LAINE HOOPER, 2020 Scholar, Mercer Island High School

The disabled community is a place of extreme diversity, innovation, and flexibility. Made up of people of different abilities, ages, and backgrounds, it includes disabled individuals, medical staff, advocates, family members, caregivers, and friends. I have watched the entire community join together in order to overcome barriers and create greater opportunities and happiness.
